Video Recitation: THE EVISCERATION

And we're live! I hope you all enjoy this piece.

It was written a while back.

The title is basically the theme here, and it roughly means 'The Removal of all essential Parts'.

I suppose you could say this was another attempt of mine to define/describe the human condition.

Or at the very least, what it seems to have come to in the present day.

Everything's all messed up. In a great portion, we've lost touch with the simple and basic things which make life worth living.

It's been a process through which we've been drained of a lot of our spirit.

Pretty much speaks for itself, so I think I need say no more. *sighs*

Video Recitation: DARK DESPAIR

And we're rolling...all the way back to the angst. *insert sheepish laugh* What can I say for myself?

I'm just full of the stuff...

This piece is actually something of a historical landmark for me. You see, it was written around the time my physical muse decided to go AWOL.

I was in quite the funk at the time.

But I got over it eventually, and right back in the swing of things. ^-^ So no harm no foul, I suppose.

What's a writer without a little heartbreak under the belt?

Nothing but future inspiration surplus, I tell ya.

Anyways, enough of my sorrowful reminiscing!

Video Recitation: THE CONQUERING REBOUND

And we're live!

I hope you all enjoy this piece. The title pretty much speaks for itself. ^-^

I wrote this for those loveable Rebounders that seems to always be there at the right time to pick us up in the aftermath of failed love experiences.

I think we should all appreciate the Rebounds, because sometimes it takes being let down to bounce-back and figure out just who we're really meant to be with.

And it's not always the person you'd expect, but it's generally the person you need.

Case made~

Video Recitation: MURDER SHE WROTE

And we're rolling! I hope you all enjoy this. It's one of my more...inspired works from way back when...

I wish I could elaborate more without making myself seem ever so slightly deranged, but for the sake of preserving a sane image, I'll simply say I was in the mood at the time to vent frustration over certain circumstances which had plagued my reality.

In my defense, it was a justified irritation.

One which I am, to this day, thankful to have felt. Because it was the source of inspiration for this, one of my most uniquely conceived pieces.

I am very proud to say no one got hurt in the writing of this.

In fact, the source of my inspiration quite enjoyed it when I (most happily) read it to them.

The person I have to thank for this is one of my most prolific mentors, whom I shall never forget for as long as I shall write.

She is a lovely woman I take my hat off to every day of the week.

So in conclusion, this piece was really good fun, with lots of fond memories attached.

How's that for a confession? ^_~

Video Recitation: JUST BECAUSE

And we're live, yet again! ^-^ I hope you all enjoy.

This piece is a bit of sweetness to break the angsty monotony for a while.

It basically speaks for itself, so there's not much I can say for it.

I think the best part about it is the way it all rounds off in the final lines. I was particularly proud of myself for coming to such a neat conclusion when I first wrote this.

*insert cheeky grin*

What can I say, I'm a lover of cheese.

Video Recitation: REFLECTION OF THE BEAST

And we're live, on the late/early side. I hope you all enjoy this piece.

It was written towards the beginning of my career, and I couldn't tell you exactly what sparked it.

It was one of those things where I began writing on a few lines, and just had to keep going until it was through.

I suppose it may have had origins in my subconscious, however, at this time the specifics escape me.

So I'll just leave it up to you all to ascribe your own meaning to it.

This piece brings up the concept of revenge/closure for me.

On who and for what, I couldn't say...

Video Recitation: BODY OF MINE

And we're rolling! I hope you all enjoy this piece.

It was written during a period of reflection.

I was considering how we humans tend to neglect our bodies until we begin to feel the decay in our later years.

If the body is a temple, then we owe it to ourselves to take care of it as something important. For at the end of it all, our bodies are the only things which keep our spirits from evaporating.

I suppose you could say this was a piece themed around self-love.

Regardless of the many flaws we may imagine ourselves to have, our bodies are our most precious assets and companions.

We should take care of them.

Even when we don't really feel up to the task.

Ahem...I believe that's enough said for now.

Video Recitation: LOST

And we're live! Wish I could think of something more to say right about now, but really, I'm out of lines. ^-^ So please, just enjoy!

This piece was written a while back and the title basically speaks for itself.

Not much I can say about it besides what has already been written. The concept may have been life, or life's journey.

Video Recitation: SUCH SWEET WORDS

And we're live, with yet another piece! ^-^ I hope you all enjoy this. Originally, this was written for a school-hosted library competition. So I took extra care in crafting it.

As memory serves, the words just came together.

I suppose you can say that this piece is all about the lies we purposefully and inadvertently tell the ones we care about. Whether it's to protect ourselves, or under the notion of protected them from the truth.

They still wind up doing harm in the end, those words we throw around.

Concept stated.

Video Recitation: DEATH

And we're live on the early side. ^-^ I hope you all enjoy this piece. It was an early write of mine.

I suppose you could say this was my attempt to give a voice to 'Death'. Something not quite sinister but more comforting, or welcoming so to speak.

At least, that was the angle.

In any case, you can form your own interpretations as you please.

Video Recitation: SPELL

And we're live! Hopefully better than ever before. ^-^ I hope you all enjoy my latest and will stay tuned for future posts.

I've been tinkering with my video formatting in order to make things look more professional. It's been a long time in coming, but I hope you like what I've done thus far.

There's not much I can really say about this particular piece, because it was written towards the beginning of my career when I was still going through the experimental phases.

I'm not quite sure what inspired it except the impulse to write.

I think that although it's short, it's still kind of nice to hear. A bit like making promises to your precious person without restraint, I suppose.

Feel free to let me know how you like this. Commentary and criticism of all kinds is always most appreciated.

And now, for the broken record!

The Evisceration

First were we born, our wings pure as rain; then did we grow acquainted with pain

This world, it took from us, all memories of truth

And stuffed us with lies to banish our youth

Gone were the eyes unclouded by shame; up went the bars to block and restrain

The prisons were built to cage the insane, miserable wretches with no decent name

This life, it has hands, greedy for blood; it rips from our hearts the fibers of love

It beats down our faith, and murders each hope; then hangs from our necks, a lethal short rope

The friends are not loyal, but selfish and cruel; they carve though the backs of every blind fool

No longer is trust invested with pride; but now it is buried with martyrs who’ve died

The things we once held secure within dreams, have been blocked away by cold hardened screens

Our souls are now empty, desolate husks

Of once verdant glades—reduced down to dust

Dark Despair

Twist went the dagger in my heart, the moment I found we were to part

Gone was the light within my eyes, and up went my solid, cold disguise

I remember the hues of black and white, replaced all colors and brought the night

Splashing across the day bright sky, and caused the rainbows all to die

No longer was there a reason why, for me to tell each simple lie, and hide the tears I longed to cry

I broke—and let the roses dry

The shattering part was easy enough, but cleaning up was all too rough

The shards I glued tore though my skin, and ripped my wounds apart again

I do not know just how or when, I’ll find the strength to live again

I only know you killed my heart, and left me empty, in the dark

The Conquering Rebound

Once upon a day, it began; but last, before the night, it shall end

This foolish game, I’ll always win; and you’ll be mine, just once again

Once upon a dream, I had you here, offering your heart to me with fear

For though I held you near and dear, I could not catch your every tear

They fell too many and too fast, those cold remains of hurts long past

It was a wonder they did last, so long within the broken cast

I cut away to seize your heart, for my chalice, a lasting art

I did not think it kind, but smart, for me to claim your damaged heart

So soon after it broke apart; I took my chance to mend each part

Once upon a time, you ran away, from all the lies of love they say

Once upon a day, I let you fall

Then upon the night, I took your all

Your hatred, your love, your weakness, your shame

Your tortured sweet heart, made tender by pain

I watched you tear open, again and again

Then put you together, and last killed your bane

Murder she wrote

Pity the goose who hung the noose, and did not check that it was loose

Enough to snap her pretty head, right clean off and leave her dead

Pity the fool who did not see, the menace lurking patiently

Behind the old sweet willow tree, to cut her open greedily

Pity the corpse all cold and grim, torn away from every limb

Missing bits and fleshy parts, stacked on rolling body carts

Pity the bold and daring one, remembering all that she has done

To incur the wrath of one, hacking till the deed is done

Pity the day I pull you near, confirming every secret fear

You wrap for me with every tear, like a present I hold dear

Pity when I lose my mind, and turn upon your filthy kind

Pity that they will never find, the skewered heart I’ll leave behind

Just Because

There’s never been a reason why, good enough to justify

The way we jump and fall for love, other than that just because

It keeps us standing on our feet, and teaches our stone hearts to beat

For something bitter, maybe sweet, that gives our minds an awesome treat

To chew upon throughout the day, or dream about just as we lay

Upon our beds with sad dismay, beside a space all cold and gray

There’s never been an easy way, to simply come straight out and say

How much we love each single day, spent with the ones our hearts all pray

Will maybe just perhaps one day, open up to us and say

I’ve fallen only just because, you love me so, and so I love

Reflection of the Beast

Panic, flows deep, running beneath cold skin

Eyes, freeze open, as knees meet the floor

Slowly, you’re choking, and the air pulls tight

It burns, through your lungs, as you shiver in fright

Say now, what’s wrong?

Why so afraid?

I’ve only just showed you, the scars that you’ve made

Are they not to your liking, now once they’ve healed?

No longer, not bleeding, the flesh which was peeled

Do you wish I had sheltered your mind from this pain?

Or rathered I suffered, alone in vain?

How selfish you are, my dastardly devil

And cruel to be sure, as you watched me wallow

In this filthy mess of a broken cage, you have become fuel for my blackening rage

And no matter the words you use to appease

You will never escape the jaws of this beast

For it feeds on your each and every strain, and drinks like wine, from the depths of your shame

And slowly it grows, stronger and stronger

As it rips through your body in ravenous hunger

Tell me now, as I stare in wonder

What has, will become, of you…most pitiful monger

Body of Mine

How strange it is, this body of mine

Which houses a spirit spoiled by time

It buries the dark and fragile girl, who hides her face from the deceitful world

So often it has been a shield, and never once did it yield

But always standing true and strong, against the time which moves along

How strange it is to be so kind, and follow the whims of a fickle mind

This pitiful, sad, vessel of mine

This body since…killed by time

Lost

I’ve been traveling this road many a long day’s night

Wandering further and further away from this life

I’ve been drifting slowly down a river of lies, searching for some shred of truth to heal my withering heart

If you care to know my destination, then simply follow after

For I know not where I’m going, only where I’ve been

Pushed off the edge, down into the bottom

Where I lie, bruised and broken for my sin

How long this vessel will hold, is a question without answer

For life at the bottom is nothing short of cancer

Slow to destroy, but quick to progress

In this endless cycle of pain, I wonder…

When shall I rest?

Such Sweet Words

Such sweet words, nothing but lies

Spoken under the guise of comfort, soaked in the stench of love

Only a desperate fool would believe, words so pretty and false

Hiding the truth beneath blankets of dreams, and promises to be broken

Such sweet words, I loathe to hear

For they are deceptive, and cruel to the heart

Sinking in like lazy poison, and causing pain to their foolish victim

Such sweet words, should never be spoken

For they only summon misfortune and heartache

Such sweet words, have robbed my soul

And left behind, the shell…of a fool

Death

Breathe deep and savor your last breath

Go swiftly towards the white light

Don’t look back, not even for a moment

Forget the troubles of your mortal life

Let go of your fears and anxiety

Rest now my love

Let your heart take a breather for once

Allow your memory to dissolve

Do not dwell on the pain of departure

For all is nothing now

No longer must you hold on

Let go and close your eyes

I promise to catch you

Wrap you in a blanket of silk

Let you sleep for an eternity and one year

Your burdens shall no longer drag you down

For in death, you are free

And all the shackles of life will be cut to ribbons,

and burned to ash...
